Waimea Estates Nelson Pinot Gris 2009

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 24-Mar-2011
Bright straw-yellow colour with a pale edge, this has a very fine, intense and lifted aromatic bouquet of pure white stonefruits and pears. Medium-dry to taste, this is tightly bound with clean and intense flavours of stonefruits, pear drops and yellow floral elements enhanced by spiciness. The finesse of the wine in mouth is the feature, showing line, proportion and length. There is crisp refreshing acidity balancing the soft near-unctuousness. This will be a match with mildly spicy Asian cuisine over the next 3-4+ years. Fruit from the Waimea Plains cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 14.0% alc. and 9.6 g/L rs, the wine given some lees stirring. 18.5/20 Mar 2011 RRP $21.90
