Waimea Estates Nelson Gruner Veltliner 2015

Gruner Veltliner from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 03-Nov-2015
Bright, very pale straw colour with slight green hues. This has a fresh and bright nose with aromas of yellow stonefruits entwined with herbal notes and a suggestion of white pepper, the fruit building in volume, presence and depth in the glass. Dry to taste and medium-full bodied, this has a firmly concentrated core with good depth of yellow and green stonefruits, fresh herbs and pepper. The mouthfeel is fresh and lively with some phenolic textures and grip providing a strong, grainy line. The acidity enhances the fruit richness and the vitality and energy carries the palate to a textural, dry finish of aromatic herbs. This is a well-textured and weighted Gruner Veltliner with fresh stonefruit and herb flavours. Match with herb-marinated white meat dishes over the next 3+ years. Fruit from the ‘Annabrook’ and ‘Hope’ vineyards fermented to 13.5% alc. and 4.4 g/L RS, the wine receiving some aging on lees. 17.5/20 Nov 2015 RRP $23.00
