Waimea Estates Nelson Gewurztraminer 2014

Gewurztraminer from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 09-Oct-2014
Bright, pale straw-yellow colour with light green hues. The nose is elegantly concentrated with intense aromas of rose-petal florals, musk and ginger, along with refreshing minerally elements providing cut and detail. Medium-dry to taste, this has a concentrated and tightly bound core of rose-petals and exotic florals interwoven with delicate nuances of ginger and musk. The mouthfeel is smooth with very fine textures and subtle, soft, lacy acidity and a little alcoholic power lending good linearity. This is well-balanced and the wine carries through to an elegant, lingering finish of honey, spices and exotic florals. This is a soft, tightly bound and concentrated medium-dry Gewurztraminer with balance and harmony. Serve with Middle Eastern cuisine, oily seafood and paté over the next 4+ years. Fruit from 3 parcels from the Waimea Plains and one from Ruby Bay, cool-fermented to 13.5% alc. and 9.6 g/L RS. 18.5/20 Oct 2014 RRP $23.00
