Waimea Estates Nelson Gewurztraminer 2012

Gewurztraminer from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 06-May-2013
Fruit from the ‘Lansdowne’ and ‘Annabrook’ vineyards, fermented to 13.0% alc. and 10 g/L rs, the wine aged on lees. Bright, pale straw-yellow colour with some green-gold hues, pale on rim. The bouquet is very refined, tight and elegant with pure rose-petal florals expressed with beautiful delicacy, yet with intensity. Exotic florals, spices, honey and must unfold in the glass. Dryish to taste, tightly concentrated flavours of roses, herbs and musk are entwined with honey and spices. The mouthfeel is poised between smoothness and crispness, with good weight alongside fresh acidity. The palate has linearity and refinement and the flavours flow with drive and cut, leading to a very long, subtly musky and aromatic finish. This is a very refined, detailed and stylish, dryish Gewurztraminer that will match rich seafood, poultry and pork, and semi hard cheeses over the next 4-5 years. 18.5+/20 May 2013 RRP $23.00
