Waimea Estates Nelson ‘Edel’ 2009

Blended White from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 15-Apr-2011
This is inspired by the Edelzwicker aromatic varietal blends of Alsace, and is 47% Riesling, 38% Pinot Gris and 15% Gewurztraminer from the ‘Lansdowne' and ‘Annabrook' sites on the Waimea Plains, fermented to 13.0% alc. and 10.1 g/L rs. Bright straw-yellow colour with light golden hues, this has a very fresh, tightly concentrated nose of rose petals and Turkish Delight, yellow stonefruits and limes, the perfumes based on Gewurztraminer. Off-dry to taste, this has a deep, steely core of lime-like fruit and minerals enveloped by perfumes and spices. Texturally, this is soft and oily, with roundness, and thewine has a sustained finish. Match with Asian and Middle Eastern cuisine over the next 2-4 years. 419 cases produced. 18.0/20 Apr 2011 RRP $23.00
