Waimea Estates Nelson ‘Classic’ Riesling 2015

Riesling from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 08-Dec-2016
Bright straw-yellow colour with light green-gold hues, lighter on the edge. This has a well-concentrated and packed bouquet with stylishly restrained aromas of lime fruit and lifted yellow florals, along with notes of honeysuckle and sherbet, and subtle secondary toasty complexities. The aromatics are harmonious and integrated. Medium-dry to taste and light-medium bodied, the palate is beautifully posed with a softly concentrated core of lime fruit with lifted florals, and notes of honeysuckle, sherbet and toasty detail. The fruit possesses richness which is balanced by very fine textures and crisp, racy acidity. The wine flows easily along a very fine textured line leading to a dry, gently mouthwatering finish with nuances of lime and toast. This is a softly concentrated and finely poised medium-dry Riesling with lime, floral and honied flavours with complex toast detail on a crisp, mouthwatering palate. Serve as an aperitif and with Asian fare over the next 4-5 years. Fruit from the ‘Hunter’ and ‘Annabrook’ vineyards, cool-fermented in tank to 11.5% alc. and 12.5 g/L RS, TA 8.2 g/L and pH 2.89, the wine spending a short time on lees. 18.5/20 Dec 2016 RRP $17.00
