Waimea Estates ‘Bolitho SV’ Nelson Merlot 2008

Merlot from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 15-Apr-2011
This ‘Bolitho Signature Vineyard' wine is 100% Merlot from the ‘Railway Reserve' block which is Waimea's smallest vineyard. The wine was fermented to 13.0% alc., and aged 12 months in new and seasoned French oak casks. Dark ruby-red in colour, youthful in appearance, this has a tightly bound and concentrated nose of black berry and plum fruits complexed by notes of dark florals, ink, herbs and spices. On palate, this has concentrated, well-ripened ripe black berry and plummy fruit flavours backed by fine, firm tannin extraction and good acidity. This has classical claret proportions and will need another two years to unfold and show its best. Then drink over the next 5-7+ years with lamb, aged beef and hard cheeses. Less than 100 dozen made. 17.5+/20 Apr 2011 RRP $29.00
