Vynfields ‘Reserve’ Martinborough Pinot Noir 2009

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 14-Feb-2011
Fruit for this wine was cropped at 17 hl/ha, 100% destemmed and fermented to 14.9% alc, then aged 14 months in 33% new French barriques. This is a considerable step up over the ‘Estate' wine. Very dark, deep, fullish black red in colour, this shows more material matter and extraction with its saturation. On nose, very full, with vibrant and fresh, ripe black plum and berry fruits, and some oak lift. Almost solid, dense, tight and brooding, but certainly not massive and ungainly. This is the same on the palate too, the wine being one of vibrancy, lush with sweet plum and berry fruits, underpinned by serious extraction. The soft richness and density is the feature of this beauty. It should live well for up to a decade. Only 225 cases made. 19.5-/20 Oct 2010 RRP $64.00 Disclaimer: This wine is distributed by ‘Wine2Trade', the company under which ‘Raymond Chan Wine Reviews' operates
