Volcanic Hills Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2014

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 19-Oct-2014
Bright, very pale straw colour with slight green hues, lighter on edge. The nose is tight and fresh with penetrating aromas of gooseberries, nettles and cut grass, the fruit typical of the Awatere and in the cooler spectrum, revealing subtle, steely, mineral notes in the glass. Medium-light bodied, tightly bound and slender in proportion, this has good drive and linearity, with a core of grassy, nettle-like fruit flavours. The palate has a fine textural thread and crisp, cutting, steely acidity lending poise and tension. The wine is thirst quenching and minerally, and the flavours carry through to a refreshing finish with passionfruit and nettly notes. This is a fresh lively, mouthwatering Sauvignon Blanc with cool-spectrum grassy fruit flavours. Serve with seafood, salads and goats cheese over the next 2 years. Awatere Valley fruit cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 13.0% alc., the wine aged on light lees. 17.0/20 Oct 2014 RRP $22.95
