Volcanic Hills Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay 2013

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 19-Oct-2014
Full, even straw-yellow colour with light golden hues. The nose is soft and moderately full with yellow stonefruit and nutty aromas. Some distinctive lanolin-like and waxy elements combine with oxidative complexities, and the aromatics are harmoniously concentrated. Medium to medium-light bodied, white stonefruit flavours are entwined with nutty elements, a little oxidative interest and bacony oak. The palate is elegant and finely proportioned, with discreet, balancing acidity carrying a fine-textured line to a long, lingering finish with nutty, stonefruit flavours. This is an elegant, fresh Chardonnay with waxy, nutty and oxidative interest and some bacony oak notes. Match with roasted poultry and pork over the next 3-4 years. Fruit from Haumoana, 10% indigenous yeast fermented to 12.5% alc., the wine aged 11 months in 12% new oak, the wine undergoing batonnage, with no MLF. 17.5-/20 Oct 2014 RRP $27.95
