Volcanic Hills Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay 2012

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 27-Mar-2013
Bright, pale straw-yellow colour, with pale green hues on rim. The bouquet is light, but positive with soft aromas of savoury citrus and stonefruits and a hint of oak-like toast, along with a youthful esters lift. Dry to taste and light-bodied, clean citrus fruit and nutty flavours are enlivened and enhanced by moderately brisk acidity. The fruit shows some depth and concentration, and reveals some nutty, toasty elements, flowing smoothly through the palate. This has presence and drive, carrying the flavours to a lingering, crisply acidic and dry finish. This is a light, citrusy, smooth flowing Chardonnay with some presence. Serve with seafood and poultry over the next 3+ years. Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay fermented to 13.0% alc., the wine aged in French oak. 16.5+/20 Mar 2013 RRP $24.95
