Vista Nelson Pinot Noir 2012

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 26-Jan-2015
Moderately deep, dark ruby-red with lighter garnet hues on rim. The bouquet is softly full with lifted, savoury red berry fruit along with dried herb detail and a little resinous oak. Medium-bodied, light, savoury red cherry and berry fruit flavours intermingle with nuances of dried herbs, stalks and a little secondary undergrowth complexity. The fruit has sweetness and soft acidity enhances the subtle richness. The mouthfeel is beginning to round, but has a good core of fine-grained tannins that provide good structure, carrying the wine to a dry, firm finish. This is a light-flavoured Pinot Noir with savoury red fruits and a firm core and dry finish. Match with pasta, risotto and poultry dishes over the next 4 years. Hand-picked fruit destemmed and fermented with whole berries to 13.3% alc., the wine aged 10 months in 20% new oak. 16.5+/20 Jan 2015 RRP $25.00 Hand-picked fruit destemmed and fermented with whole berries to 13.3% alc., the wine aged 10 months in 20% new oak. Moderately deep ruby-red colour with a good heart, lighter on edge. This has a full, openly accessible nose of fresh, soft-red berry fruits with savoury cherries and strawberries showing, the aromas growing in depth in the glass. Medium-full-bodied, up-front and succulently fruity flavours of red berry fruit intermingle with savoury cedar and spicy elements, the oaking quite integral. The palate features a fine core of tannin and extract showing good concentration. The tannins become more prominent and grainy, providing a firm, robust, structured line that leads to a dry finish. This is a full and concentrated, dry textured Pinot Noir with some red fruit sweetness. Match with roasted duck and red meats over the next 4+ years. 16.5+/20 Oct 2013 RRP $30.00
