Vista Nelson Pinot Gris 2013

Pinot Gris from New Zealand - Nelson
Review Date : 25-Oct-2013
Brilliant, light straw-yellow colour, lighter on rim. The nose is full and softly broad with deep aromas of waxy stonefruit entwined with spice nuances, herbs and nuts, revealing a suggestion of reductive flinty interest with smoke. Off-dry to taste, light flavours of stonefruits and nuts are layered with flint and waxy elements. The mouthfeel has presence and is soft in texture flowing with near-unctuousness. Soft acidity provides a piquant lift and freshness and the flavours lead to a light, stonefruit nuanced finish. This is a soft, dryish Pinot Gris showing some funky interest with some richness and soft textures. Serve with antipasto, tapas and first courses over the next 3 years. 80% cool-fermented in stainless-steel and 20% in oak to 12.0% alc. and 7 g/L RS, the wine aged on lees. 16.5/20 Oct 2013 RRP $20.00
