Vinoptima ‘Reserve’ Ormond Gewurztraminer 2010

Gewurztraminer from New Zealand - Gisborn
Review Date : 03-Aug-2015
Bright, light golden-yellow colour with some depth, lighter n edge. The bouquet is full with soft and subtle, ethereal waves of aromas with root ginger melded with spices and rose-petal florals, apricot kernels, musk and wild honey. The nose exudes a gentle richness and opulence. Medium in sweetness and medium-full bodied, the palate is well-proportioned with a tight and linear flowing core that reveals flavours of ripe stonefruits, musk, honey and root ginger, along with Turkish Delight notes. The fruit is lush and the mouthfeel rounded with a suggestion of unctuousness. Fine phenolics provide backing texture, guiding the wine along a lively line leading to a tight, elegant finish with flavours of apricots, root ginger and honey. This is a classical Gewurztraminer with elegant proportions and subtly rich and unctuous flavours of spice, ginger and honey. Match with Asian and Middle Eastern cuisine over the next 5-6+ years. 100% Gewurztraminer from the ‘Vinoptima’ vineyard, cool-fermented in stainless-steel and German oak ovals to 13.5% alc. and 21 g/L RS, the wine aged 11 months in tank and wood with no MLF. 18.5+/20 Aug 2015 RRP $75.00
