Vincent Girardin ‘Quintessence’ Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru 2009

Chardonnay from France - Burgandy
Review Date : 08-Dec-2011
Brilliant light golden-straw colour with a pale rim, this has a very powerful, dense and concentrated nose with a complex amalgam of citrus, mealy and nutty fruit with subtle oak toast and flintiness, quite the complete package. Full-bodied and with great weight, extract and presence, all of the flavours are in harmony and balance, though a little restrained. The textures are near unctuous, countered by a little alcoholic cut and fine acid grip. The componentry is wonderfully interwoven and the palate has a fine line that is carried to a long, nuanced finish. This has the depth to age well, say 6-8+ years, and will reveal considerably more over that time.  Dec 2011  RRP $269.00
