Vincent Girardin Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru 2009

Pinot Noir from France - Burgandy
Review Date : 09-Feb-2012
Very dark, deep, purple-hued ruby-red colour, this has a very powerful and concentrated nose of violetty florals, dark plums, Oriental spices, dark herbs and mint. The fruit is very ripe and backed by significant oaking. Fullish bodied, the concentration of the wine is the feature and the palate is densely packed with violet-essence flavours, ripe dark plums with spicy, nutty oak. The ripeness level is at an extreme, a hint of liquorice showing. This has real weight and mouthfilling presence, yet is still tightly bound with the promise of much more to unfold. The tannin structure is firm, and fine grained textures run the line of the palate. This will evolve over the next 12-15 years.  Feb 2012  RRP $215.00
