Vincent Girardin Batard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2009

Chardonnay from France - Burgandy
Review Date : 12-Jun-2014
Very pale straw colour. The nose is initially shy and unyielding, but opens out to show ripe stonefruits, flint, wet stones and minerals allied to butter and nuts, some MLF and oak. This has richness and breadth, while retaining freshness and youth. Fullish-bodied, mouthfilling flavours of stonefruits and minerals combine with nuts and a hint of buttered toast, building to feature on the palate. There is alcoholic power and drive along with density, and a little phenolic texture that results in a solidness and presence. The wine carries through to a strong finish with ripe fruit and nutty interest. This is an archetypical Batard-Montrachet with power and breadth. This will develop over the next 7-9 years. From 0.19 ha, vines 65 y.o., the wine aged 20 months in 35% new oak.19.0-/20 May 2013 RRP $375.00
