Vina Eguia Rioja Gran Reserva 2004

Tempranillo from Spain
Review Date : 01-Mar-2013
Tempranillo from Rioja Alavesa, from vines 40 y.o., the wine spending 30 months in barrel and 3 years in bottle. Ruby-red with garnet hues. This is quite aromatic and lifted on bouquet, near ethereal, with soft ref berry fruits and subtle oak cedar aromas. Medium-full bodied, this is elegant in proportion, very smooth in mouthfeel and showing attractive integration. The tannins are fine, but quite restrained, and there is a youthful freshness from the acidity and sweetness. Complex game, red fruits and cedar on the finish. A lighter, harmonious Gran Reserva with some ethereal layers, drinking over the next 4-5+ years. 17.5/20 Feb 2013 RRP $37.00
