Villa Maria ‘Single Vineyard – The Attorney’ Marlborough Pinot Noir 2013

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 11-Nov-2015
Dark, deep ruby-red with a dark heart. The bouquet is full, broad and evenly presented, the aromatics well-integrated with a core of ripe black fruits and subtle dried herb layers, the oaking sensitive and subtle. This has a purity and singularity. Medium-full bodied, the palate features a firm and elegantly concentrated core of black fruits, dark herbs and subtle iron-earth and mineral nuances. This has density and a fine line, the tannin extraction very fine-grained, contributing to a smooth and silky flow. The structure is refined and grows in presence. Lacy acidity lends poise, and violet florals emerge on the finish. A blend of Abel, 115 and 115 clones from ‘The Attorney’ vineyard in the Southern Valleys, hand-picked and fully destemmed, fermented partially with indigenous yeasts to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 14 months in 20% new French oak barriques. Certified BioGro organic. 18.5/20 Nov 2015 RRP $59.99
