Villa Maria ‘Single Vineyard – Templar’ ‘Organic’ Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2013

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 26-Nov-2014
Brilliant, pale straw-yellow colour with some green hues on rim. This has a full, open, but intense and punchy bouquet with a complex array of aromatics, showing cut grass, gooseberry fruit, herbs and lantana, unveiling vegetal, fragrant floral and waxy elements. Dry to taste and medium-full bodied, the palate is refreshing with rich and lively flavours, showing an aromatic and complex spectrum of herbs, grass, stonefruits and tropical fruits. The palate has depth and weight with a creamy-textured core, balanced by fresh, lacy acidity enlivening the mouthfeel and enhancing the succulent grassy and lantana notes. The wine carries to a ling, lingering, herbal finish. This is a full, deep and creamy Sauvignon Blanc with fresh acid balance and an array of aromatic flavours. Match with Mediterranean fare over the next 2+ years. Fruit from the organically certified ‘Templar’ vineyard on an elevated terrace above the south bank of the Awatere River, with silty loam soils over a clay papa pan, the fruit cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 13.5% alc. and 2.1 g/L RS. Certified BioGro organic. 18.5+/20 Nov 2014 RRP $24.00
