Fruit from a 1.5 ha block in the Ihumatao vineyard, hand-picked and WBP, 78% fermented in stainless-steel with 22% indigenous yeast fermented in seasoned barriques to 13.5% alc. and 4.2 g/L RS, the wine aged 5 months on lees. Bright, pale straw-yellow colour with slight green hues. This has an elegant and finely concentrated nose of fresh white and yellow stonefruits with nuances of quince, tropical fruits and exotic ethereal perfumes that grow in volume with aeration. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate features lusciously juicy flavours of white and yellow stonefruits entwined with subtle tropical fruit and nutty nuances. The fruit richness is balanced by refreshing acid cut and carried by a fine phenolic textured thread at the core. The mouthfeel is bright and lively and flows with a suggestion of oiliness leading to a dry-textured, tropical-fruited finish. This is an elegant, juicy and lively, dry Verdelho with exotic stonefruit and tropical fruit flavours. Serve with Asian and Pacific Rim cuisine over the next 3+ years.
