Villa Maria ‘Reserve’ Wairau Valley Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2013

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 26-Nov-2014
Fruit from the Waihopi Valley, Ben Morven and a smaller lower Wairau Valley component, cool-fermented to 13.5% alc. and 3.2 g/L RS. Bright, even, very pale straw-yellow colour, lighter edged. The bouquet is softly layered with restrained aromas of gooseberries, passionfruit and subtle tropical fruit elements that gently grow in volume. Dry to taste, this is full and broad, the flavours gently filling the palate. Rich, pungent passionfruit and soft, ripe gooseberry fruits are harmoniously interwoven and show with good weight and presence. Some sweet herb and mineral detail unfolds. The palate follows a soft, chalky-textured line with mellow, ripe acidity, leading to a stylishly restrained finish with passionfruit nuances. This is a soft, broad and gentle Sauvignon Blanc with passionfruit flavours, chalky textures and good presence. Match with Asian cuisine over the next 2 years. 18.0/20 Nov 2014 RRP $24.00
