Villa Maria ‘Private Bin’ Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2016

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 15-Jul-2016
Bright, light straw-yellow colour with slight green hues, lighter on the rim. The nose is very soft and voluminous with gently concentrated aromas of ripe passionfruit and tropical fruits entwined with fragrant white florals, and subtle nuances of nettles, cut grass and snow peas. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate features softly concentrated and packed flavours of passionfruit and tropical fruits expressed with stylish restraint. The fruit is lifted by nuances of fragrant herbs and suggestions of nettles and snow peas. The mouthfeel is smooth-flowing and seamless, near-rounded in textures, lending good presence, but is balanced by a subtle line of piquant acidity. The wine carries easily to a poised and lingering finish with flavours of passionfruit and fresh herbs. This is a softly fresh and concentrated Sauvignon Blanc with harmonious passionfruit and nettle flavours, and a smooth mouthfeel. Match with Asian and Pacific Rim fare over the next 2 years. Fruit from multiple vineyards in the Awatere and Wairau valleys, cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 13.0% alc. and 3.9 g/L RS. 17.5+/20 Jul 2016 RRP $15.99
