Villa Maria ‘Private Bin’ East Coast Arneis 2013

Arneis from New Zealand - North Island
Review Date : 29-Dec-2014
Bright, pale straw-yellow colour with slight green-gold hues, pale edged. The nose is fresh and up-front with aromas of chalky white stonefruits and florals, green melons and nuts. The nose is open and evenly presented with clean, focussed fruit. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the flavours of white stonefruits, nuts and florals fill the palate with dry, thirst-quenching textures. Crisp, racy acidity underscores the robust fruitiness and some alcohol power provides good drive, carrying the wine to a lush, chalky-mineral nuanced, nutty finish. This is an up-front, open and mouthfilling dry Arneis with texture, presence and drive. Serve with antipasto and seafood over the next 2-3 years. Fruit two-thirds from Hawke’s Bay and one-third Gisborne, cool-fermented to 13.0% alc. and 3.0 g/L RS. 17.5/20 Dec 2014 RRP $14.99
