Villa Maria ‘Lightly Sparkling’ Rosé 2015

Rose from New Zealand - Other
Review Date : 21-Sep-2016
Bright salmon-pink colour with peach hues and some depth, and pale purple hues on rim. A little frothy effervescence showing. This has a soft and rounded nose with moderately deep aromas of watermelon and pomegranate, entwined with soft red floral notes and mineral hints. Dryish to taste and light-medium bodied, this has a soft, up-front heart of savoury strawberry fruit with pomegranate and watermelon notes. The palate is rounded with a light effervescence and soft, subtle phenolic textures. The flavours unfold to gently fill the mouth and carry with good line to a dry, lingering finish of strawberries and red florals. This is a dryish, gently effervescent rosé with a soft core of strawberries and pomegranate, with lifted florals and a soft-textured mouthfeel. Serve as an aperitif and with canapes over the next 18 months to 2 years. A blend of Merlot, Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris from Marlborough, Hawke’s Bay and Gisborne, cool-fermented to 12.0% alc. and 6.3 g/L RS, the wine carbonated. 15.5/20 Sep 2016 RRP $15.99
