Villa Maria Lightly Sparkling Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2014

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 26-Nov-2014
Bright, very pale straw colour with slight green hues, very light on rim. This has a soft and light nose with grassy and green capsicum aromas along with a savoury pungent, green stonefruit note. Dry to taste and light-bodied, the palate opens with a gentle crackle of effervescence which quickly settles, leaving light and softly expressed gooseberry and passionfruit flavours. The palate is softly textured with grainy phenolics that lend dryness to the mouthfeel. Light acidity balances the textures, enhancing the fruit sweetness, and leads the wine to a dry, lively finish. This is a light-fruited, gently crackling Sauvignon Blanc with some dry textures. Serve as an aperitif and with canapes over the next 18 months. Sauvignon Blanc from the Wairau and Awatere Valleys, fermented to 12.5% alc. and 5.7 g/L RS, the wine carbonated. 16.5/20 Nov 2014 RRP $14.99
