Villa Maria ‘Cellar Selection’ Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2014

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 26-Nov-2014
Fruit from different sites, approx. an equal blend of Awatere and Wairau Valleys, cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 13.0% alc. and 3.3 g/L RS. Bright, even, pale straw colour, lighter edged. This has a light and elegant nose with subtle aromas of cut grass, nettles, gooseberries along with passionfruit nuances. Fresh herbs, minerals and white florals unfold with aeration. Dry to taste and medium-light bodied, gently succulent flavours of gooseberry fruit and cut grass are harmoniously melded on a soft-textured, smooth-flowing palate. This has good linearity, with gentle lacy acidity, and a little alcohol drive showing, carrying the wine to a fine and even finish. This is an elegantly soft, smooth and harmonious Sauvignon Blanc with gooseberry and grassy flavours. Serve as an aperitif, with salads and vegetables, and fine Asian fare over the next 2 years. 17.5/20 Nov 2014 RRP $19.99
