Villa Maria ‘Cellar Selection’ Marlborough Dry Riesling 2014

Riesling from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 02-Jun-2015
Fruit from the Wairau Valley, 60% and 40% from the Awatere Valley, with some hand-picking and WBP, cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 12.0% alc., 7.1 g/L RS, TA 8.3 g/L and pH 2.9. Bright, very pale straw colour, near colourless on rim. This has an elegant and delicate nose of pure and clear lime and citrus fruits, white floral aromas along with subtle hints of honeysuckle, and beautifully refined, mouthwatering mineral notes. The aromatics are finely proportioned. Dry to taste and medium-light bodied, the core is elegant with good depth of lime and lemonade flavours, revealing citrus richness. The mouthfeel is smooth flowing with soft acid balance and very fine textures, and mouthwatering mineral nuances add to the energy, carrying the wine to a fine-textured dry finish with a delicate phenolic thread. This is a very fine-textured, dry Riesling with clarity of lime and floral fruit and delicate mineralilty. Serve as an aperitif and with subtle seafood dishes over the next 4+ years. 17.5+/20 Jun 2015 RRP $17.99
