Villa Maria ‘Cellar Selection’ Hawke’s Bay Arneis 2013

Arneis from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 29-Dec-2014
Fruit from the ‘Vineyard Plants’ and ‘Davies’ vineyards, cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 13.0% alc. and 2.5 g/L RS. Bright, even, straw-yellow colour with green-gold hues, lighter on edge. This has an elegant and finely expressed, lifted nose of white florals with nuances of lime and tropical fruits along with piquant, mouthwatering, nutty detail. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, tightly bound flavours of white stonefruits, florals and citrus fruits show with a delicate lusciousness. The fruit is enlivened by bright, lacy acidity, lending the mouthfeel vitality and tension. The wine has a very fine core that reveals nutty elements as it flows to a plush, juicy finish. This is a tightly held, refined Arneis with gently luscious and vibrant, lively fruit. Serve as an aperitif, with antipasto, tapas and Mediterranean fare over the next 2-3 years. 18.0/20 Dec 2014 RRP $19.99
