100% Arneis primarily from the ‘VPL' site with silt and sandy soils, supplemented by grapes from two vineyards, one with stones and gravels and another hillside site. WBP and cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 13.0% alc. and 2.6 g/L rs. 5% was indigenous yeast fermented in old oak. The wine spent 4 months on lees with batonnage. Bright, very pale straw colour with a pale rim. This has a softly fresh and full, voluminous nose of ripe stonefruits, citrus and honeysuckle with mineral and flinty lees work. Dry to taste, this is tight and zesty with good acid tension and liveliness. Fresh citrus fruits, nuts, herbs and florals unfold with detail and interest, a sweetness and alcohol warmth adding to the depth and drive through the palate. The finish is moderately sustained, soft in texture and dry. This Arneis has lively detail and a range of flavours with the drive to match with a broad range of seafood, poultry and Asian dishes over the next 2-3+ years. 18.0-/20 Mar 2012 RRP $23.99
