Vieux Lazaret Chateauneuf du Pape 2009

Grenache from France - Rhone
Review Date : 17-May-2011
60% Grenache, 15% Syrah, 10% Mourvedre, 10% Counoise and 5% Cinsault, from vines 70-100+ y.o., aged 12-18 months in seasoned oak. Ruby-red colour with a lighter edge, this is solid, dense and brutish, packed with ripe, cooked, black fruits and savoury secondary aromas. The palate is massive, with huge extraction, dense with black fruit, cooked gamed and dried herb flavours. This is a powerful wine with alcoholic strength. The tannin will always win here.  May 2011
