Vieille Julienne Chateauneuf du Pape 2003

Grenache from France - Rhone
Review Date : 17-May-2012
70% Grenache, 15% Syrah and 15% Mourvedre with Cinsault, the wine aged 18 months in concrete and foudre. Deep ruby-red in colour with good depth, this has a softly full, ripe fruited bouquet, slightly restrained, possibly with some dead fruit. Medium full-bodied, this combines ripe, lush, raspberry Grenache fruit with notes of minerals and steel. The tannins show a youthful firmness, but promise suppleness in time. Dense black fruits emerge adding to the depth of the palate, the wine finishing dry and dusty with earthy elements.  17.5/20  May 2012  RRP $48.00
