Vidal ‘Reserve’ ‘Organic’ Hawke’s Bay Sauvignon Blanc 2014

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 09-Jun-2015
Bright straw-yellow colour with a suggestion of light gold, pale on rim. This has a gently voluminous nose with restrained aromas of white and green stonefruits, fresh herbs and subtle, nutty detail that build in depth with aeration. Nuances of nutty oak and lees elements emerge in the glass. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, gentle, refreshing fruit flavours of gooseberries, green stonefruits and herbs are expressed with clarity and delicacy. The mouthfeel is enlivened by crisp, lacy, lemony acidity and the wine flows with good energy and cut. A thirst-quenching textural thread carries the wine to a lively, fine-grained, dry finish. This is a fresh, lively Sauvignon Blanc with subtle fruitiness, delicate inputs and mouthwatering acidity. Serve with Mediterranean fare over the next 2 years. Fruit from a certified BioGro organc vineyard bordering the Gimblett Gravels, cool-fermented in French oak barriques, 5% new, puncheons, and 55% in tank, to 13.0% alc. and 3.4 g/L RS, TA 8.11 g/L and pH 2.99, the wine aged 6 months on lees. 250 cases made. 17.0/20 Jun 2015 RRP $19.99
