Vidal ‘Reserve’ Hawke’s Bay Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot 1998

Cabernet Sauvignon from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 22-Nov-2013
Impenetrable black-red with a youthful appearance, ripe blackcurrant and cassis aromas abound, laced with complexing earthy plum and minerally notes and some secondary detail along with new oak. Remarkably sweetly ripe and rich on palate, the black fruit flavours combine power with structural finesse, the wine showing great concentration. There’s fruit to burn and fine oak toasting that carries on to a very long and sustained finish. This seems to have the energy and depth to last another 10+ years easily. 19.5+/20 Nov 2013
