Vidal Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay 2015

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Hawke's Bay
Review Date : 20-May-2016
Bright, pale golden-yellow colour with some depth and slight green hues, pale edged. The nose is refreshing and softly packed with aromas of white stonefruits harmoniously melded with a gentle layer of nutty oak and flinty lees elements. The aromatics build in depth with aeration. Medium-bodied, the palate is fresh and bright with good depth of white stonefruit flavours along with subtle nuances of nutty oak and flinty lees. The palate is slender in proportion, with fresh and lively acidity driving the wine along a light, phenolic-textured line. The wine carries to a drt, crisp finish with white stonefruit and flinty nuances. This is a crisp, dry and lively Chardonnay with white stonefruit, flinty and nutty detail and a dry, textured line. Match with seafood and poultry over the next 3+ years. Fruit from Maraekakaho, the Omahu Gravels and Kokako in Ohiti Valley, fermented in tank and a small portion of seasoned French oak barriques to 13.5% alc., the wine aged on lees with batonnage and 30% MLF. 16.5+/20 May 2016 RRP $15.99
