Bright, light straw-yellow colour with a faint suggestion of blush. The nose is very fresh, bright and up-front with good aromatic depth showing white and yellow stonefruits, pears, honeysuckle and lifted fermentation esters, revealing nuances of minerally lees interest. Dryish to taste and light-medium bodied, the palate features accessible aromatic fruit flavours of pears, stonefruits and honeysuckle along with youthful fermentation esters. The fruit has richness, balanced by lively acidity and the wine flows easily along a fine phenolic thread and line, leading to a clean, dry, crisp finish. This is a bright, lively and crisp, dryish Pinot Gris with aromatic pear fruit flavours. Serve ith seafood, pasta and poultry over the next 2+ years. Fruit from Hawke’s Bay and Marlborough, cool-fermented to 12.0% alc. and 5.0 g/L RS, the wine undergoing several months batonnage. 16.5+/20 Jan 2016 RRP $16.00
