Vicarage Lane Canterbury Pinot Noir 2016

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date : 11-Mar-2018
Even ruby-red colour with some depth, lighter on the rim. The nose is light with aromas of strawberries and red cherries along with subtle notes of red florals and hints of dark herbs, entwined with a layering of toasty oak. Medium-bodied, the palate has moderately concentrated and interwoven flavours of strawberries and red cherries, along with dark herbs, spices and toasty oak. The mouthfeel is lively and vigorous with plenty of energy and fresh, crisp acidity enlivening the fruit. Light, grainy tannin extraction provides grip and texture, and the wine carries to a moderately long finish of red fruits and oak. This is a lively Pinot Noir with strawberry and cherry fruit intermixed with toasty oak flavours on a grainy-textured palate. Match with antipasto, tapas and pasta, as well as grilled and barbecued fare over the next 3+ years. Hand-picked fruit from a Waipara site, destemmed and fermented, partially by indigenous yeasts to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 8 months in barrel. 16.5-/20 Mar 2018 RRP $17.99
