Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin ‘Yellow Label’ Champagne NV

Sparkling Wine from France - Champagne
Review Date : 06-Dec-2012
50-55% Pinot Noir, 15-20% Pinot Meunier and 28-33% Chardonnay with 25-40% reserve wine. Bright, pale straw-yellow colour with pale green hues, smallish bubbles and good persistence. The nose is full, firm and complete with fruity Pinot stonefruit aromas, along with savoury, complex yeast extract notes, along with fresh bread and subtle citrus hints in the background, the aromatics with excellent depth and presence. Dry to taste and fulsome in mouthfeel and weight, the fruit richness and depth forms a rounded core. The yeasty autolysis is restrained, and fine aldehyde and nutty elements add intricate detail and nuance. The wine flows softly through the palate, and lacy acidity adds to the liveliness and energy, taking over from the mild effervescence. This is a complete Champagne with balanced fruit and subtly detailed interest, softly presented. An all-rounder to enjoy over the next 2-3+ years. 18.5/20 Dec 2012
