Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin ‘La Grande Dame’ Champagne 2004

Sparkling Wine from France - Champagne
Review Date : 04-Dec-2012
69% Pinot Noir and 31% Chardonnay, fruit from 8 crus, mainly Verzenay and Avize, 9 g/L dosage. Bright pale straw colour with green hues. This has a very fine, persistent bead. The nose is finely intense and penetrating, showing fresh, youthful and tightly bound aromas of yellow stonefruits alongside firm yeasty autolytic notes. Dry to taste, this is tight and firm on palate with distinct Pinot Noir yellow stonefruit flavours and matching yeasty depth. An underlying textural line provides presence, power and drive, and the mouthfeel is one of crispness and cut allied to youthful freshness. This is a Champagne with the potential to show greater complexities and develop over the next 5-6+ years easily. 18.5+/20 Nov 2012 RRP $350.00
