Named after Peter Vavasour's son. Clone 5 and 115 fruit from a site in the ‘Favourite' vineyard fermented with around 10% whole bunch to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 14 months in 35% new French oak barriques. Full ruby-red with some garnet hues. This is densely packed with complex, layered aromas of savoury dark red berry and plum fruits, with brown spices, savoury dark earth and game notes. Medium-full bodied, rich savoury flavours fill the palate revealing savoury plum, spice and earthy notes. This is rich and mouthfilling with soft, fine-featured tannins building to add to the deep core and structure. Lively but complex flavours bloom on the finish with succulence. This is a complex layered Pinot Noir with savoury richness and fine mouthfeel. Match with casseroles and slow cooked game bird dishes over the next 5-7 years. 250 cases made. 18.5/20 Aug 2012 RRP $45.00
