Vavasour ‘Claudia’s Vineyard’ Awatere Valley Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2010

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 03-Aug-2012
Named after Peter Vavasour's daughter, fruit from a site in the ‘Favourite' vineyard. Fruit WBP and fully fermented in seasoned French barriques with indigenous yeasts to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 14 months in these barrels with partial MLF. Bright straw-yellow colour, a little lighter on edge. Poweful nectarine and savoury complex bean and spicy barrel-ferment amalgam aromas show. This is very tight and densely concentrated on nose and palate, resulting in a stylish reserved nature. The wine has a dry mouthfeel, with good acid tension throughout. Savoury. salty, minerally notes linger on the finish. This stylish, concentrated, complex Sauvignon will be a great match with seafood and poultry over the next 3-4+ years. 250 cases made. 18.5-/20 Aug 2012 RRP $27.50
