Bright straw-yellow colour with pale green-gold hues and some depth, lighter edged. The nose is finely concentrated with fresh and steely aromas of white and yellow florals along with exotic rose-petal notes, suggestions of honeysuckle and fresh fermentation esters. Dry to taste and medium-full bodied, the palate is rich and concentrated with flavours of exotic florals and rose-petals, with nuances of spice, honeysuckle and lifted fermentation esters. The flavours show good depth and intensity, and the wine follows a fine-textured line, with underlying crisp acidity providing good tension and firmness. The flavours recede to a light, lingering, nuanced finish. This is a moderately concentrated and rich, dry Pinot Gris with exotic floral flavours with some fresh, lifted esters on a tight, refreshing line. Match with Thai, Vietnamese and Japanese cuisine over the next 3-4 years. Awatere Valley fruit cool-fermented in tank with 10% in seasoned French oak to 13.5% alc. and 5.3 g/L RS, the wine undergoing batonnage. 18.0/20 Nov 2016 RRP $23.00
