Brilliant, light golden-hued straw-yellow colour with slight green tints on the rim. The nose is fresh and gently voluminous with aromas of citrus fruit and white stonefruits softly entwined with creamy barrel-ferment and nutty oak layers, and lemon-curd and butterscotch MLF notes. Medium-full bodied, the palate is fresh and vibrant with rich and deep flavours of citrus fruit interwoven with creamy barrel-ferment flavours and textures, with toasty oak, complexed by lemon-curd and buttery MLF. The mouthfeel balances freshness and liveliness with richness, and carries with good concentration to a long, lingering finish of citrus fruit, cream and nutty flavours. This is a rich, creamy, citrus-fruited Chardonnay with butty and butterscotch layers on a refreshing, long, lingering palate. Match with roasted poultry and pork over the next 4+ years. Clone 95 and Mendoza fruit from the Awatere Valley, fully barrel-fermented, 10% by indigenous yeasts to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 10 months in 22% new oak with batonnage and 80% MLF. 18.0+/20 Nov 2016 RRP $31.00
