Vavasour ‘Anna’s Vineyard’ Awatere Valley Marlborough Chardonnay 2010

Chardonnay from New Zealand - Marlborough
Review Date : 03-Aug-2012
Named after Peter Vavasour's late wife, the Clone 95 and Mendoza fruit from a site within the original Vavasour vineyard, hand-picked, WBP and fully barrel fermented with indigenous yeasts to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 14 month in 35% new French oak barriques. Bright, light straw-gold colour, lighter on rim. This has a rich, ripe nose of savoury citrus fruit, mealy biscuits and nuts with some MLF elements unfolding in layers. Oaking is very sensitive. The palate is elegant in proportion, but very concentrated with fresh, bright citrus fruits that have a luscious note, some tropical fruit hints, nutty oak and racy, minerally acidity. Very fine textures carry the line to a long nutty, toast infused citrus fruit finish. This is a lively, elegant. serious Chardonnay to match with grilled seafood and poultry over the next 4-5+ years. 250 cases made. 19.0/20 Aug 2012 RRP $33.00
