Vasse Felix ‘Filius’ Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

Cabernet Sauvignon from Australia - Western Australia
Review Date : 23-Feb-2017
Even, dark ruby-red colour with black hues and slight purple tints on the edge. This has an elegantly presented nose with finely concentrated aromas of blackcurrant fruit, cassis liqueur, notes of mint and herbs and black mineral elements. Medium-full bodied, the palate is finely concentrated with good depth and intensity of sweetly ripe blackcurrant fruit with cassis, dark herbs and minerals. The wine has excellent minerality, with fine-grained, flowery tannin extraction, and the structure is underlined by fresh, balancing acidity. The drive carries the sweetness to a long and sustained finish with refined textures and poised, black berried fruits. This is an elegantly concentrated Cabernet Sauvignon with drive and finesse, showing blackcurrant and cassis fruit richness and excellent linearity. Match with oast lamb or semi-hard cheeses over the next 6-8 years. A blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Malbec and 2% Petit Verdot fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 12 months in 13% new French oak. 18.0+/20 Feb 2017 RRP $28.50
