Valli ‘Old Vine’ Central Otago Riesling 2011

Riesling from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 27-Oct-2011
Fruit from the ‘Black Ridge' vineyard, Alexandra, from vines planted in 1981. Fermented to 12.0% alc. and 4.0 g/L rs. Brilliant lemon-straw colour with green hues and a pale rim. The bouquet soft, fine and intense with fresh and pure lime, lemon and sherbet aromas enhanced by jasmine and minerally notes. Dry on palate, there are steely fruit flavours of limes with exotic florals and hints of honeysuckle, building in subtle richness and enlivened by mouthwatering acidity. Refined, soft textures and the poised acidity provide harmony, with an understated concentration and weight leading to a long, subtly nuanced, minerally finish. Serve as an aperitif or with delicate seafood dishes such as whitebait and crayfish over the next 5-7 years. Less than 400 cases made annually. 18.5/20 Oct 2011 RRP $28.00
