Very deep, dark ruby-red colour with purple and black hues, youthful in appearance, this has a gentle, interwoven and harmonious bouquet of fresh and lively dark red cherry and berry fruits with delicate red floral, dried herb and mineral notes, a little stalk interest showing. Medium-full bodied, this is elegantly proportioned with lively and lifted red berry and cherry flavours, underlined by crisp acidity lending tension and vibrancy. Very fine-grained tannins add silky textures, and the wine has a long, delicately nuanced, but sweet finish. Clones 5, 6, 115, 113, 114 and 777 from vines planted at 4,040 per ha, the ‘Gibbston Vineyard' vines planted in 2000. 33% whole bunch fermented to 13.5% alc., the wine aged 11 months in 32% new French oak. This is supple and harmonious, and showcases balance. Serve with Asian cuisine over the next 6-7+ years. 560 cases made. 18.5/20 Oct 2011 RRP $55.00
