Very even, moderately deep ruby-red colour with youthful purple hues. The nose is full, bold and packed with ripe black plum and berry fruit aromas with layers of minerals, tar and liquorice, and harmoniously interwoven waves of whole bunch savoury, earthy herbs and perfumes. Full-bodied and immediately accessible, luscious and succulently sweet fruit flavours of black cherries, plums and liquorice fill the palate. The mouthfeel shows very attractive integration of the juicy fruit with very fine-grained tannin extraction. Structurally soft and refined, with ripe acidity, the palate flows with finesse and elegance, the tannins growing in presence, leading to an elegant, very long and gently nuanced finish. This is an elegant, refined and sweet-fruited Pinot Noir with accessibility, but with the structural depth and layers of interest that will grow over the next 6-8+ years. Match with Asian pork and Middle Eastern lamb dishes. Clones 667, 777, 115, Abel and 5 from vines planted in 2006 from ‘Chinaman’s Terrace’ in Bendigo, fermented to 14.0% alc. with 40% whole bunch, the wine undergoing 20 days cuvaison and aged 11 months in 34% new French oak. 250 dozen made. 19.0-/20 Dec 2013 RRP $65.00
