Valli ‘Bendigo Vineyard’ Central Otago Pinot Noir 2010

Pinot Noir from New Zealand - Otago
Review Date : 19-Jul-2012
Clones 667, 777, 115, Abel and 5 from the ‘Zebra' vineyard, Chinaman's Terrace, Bendigo, from vines planted in 2006, fermented with 25% whole bunch to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 11 months in 30% new French oak. Very full, near impenetrable black-red colour with youthful purple hues. Full, rich and voluminous aromas of ripe dark berry and black cherry essence fruit aromas are complexed by aromas of dark plums, oak spices and black florals that build with great intensity. Full-bodied, the palate is boldly expressed with fully ripened black berry fruits that are sweet, lush and open;y presented. The flavours are broad and mouthfilling and supported by serious extraction resulting in a fulsome presence and texture. This has density, richness and great drive and the flavours grow to feature on a very long and sustained, densely concentrated finish with ripe plum and black berry notes. This big, bold and mouthfilling, fulsome Pinot Noir will be a match with casseroles and slow-cooked red game meat dishes over the next 8-10+ years. 200 cases made. 19.5-/20 Jul 2012 RRP $65.00
