Urlar Gladstone Sauvignon Blanc 2014

Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand - Wairarapa & Wellington
Review Date : 03-Jun-2015
Bright, very pale straw-green colour, near colourless on rim. The nose is soft, elegant and light in expression with subtle aromas of white florals, fresh herbs and stonefruits, gently entwined with delicate, savoury nutty oak and minerally lees elements. Dry to taste and medium-full bodied, the flavours are restrained, gently revealing gooseberry fruit, stonefruits and herbs, along with nutty and mineral detail. The fruit has some richness and succulence, balanced by very fine-textured phenolics and soft acidity. This is harmonious and well-proportioned, with an elegant core carrying the wine to a moderately sustained, soft finish. This is an elegant and restrained Sauvignon Blanc with subtle richness and textures, and delicate complexing detail. Match with herb-marinated white meat dishes over the next 2+ years. Fruit fermented in tank with 10% in seasoned French oak to 13.5% alc. and 2.1 g/L RS, the wine aged 5 months on lees, the barrel portion undergoing batonnage. Certified BioGro organic. 17.5/20 May 2015 RRP $24.00
